Ruminant Nutritionist

The Role:

  • To provide customers and the sales team with technical advice and support on ruminant nutrition, diet formulation and feeding practice to maximise milk production or daily live weight gain;
  • Assist with the development evaluation of feed additives, concepts and the development of the Smyths Daleside product range;
  • To provide training and ensure the sales team are up to date with the latest research and best practice on feeding to maximise production and health of ruminant livestock.

The Person:

  • Have a degree level qualification in agricultural or animal science (or equivalent);
  • Possess sound knowledge of ruminant production systems and nutrition;
  • Preferably have previous experience of providing advice to farmers;
  • Ideally have previous experience working as a Ruminant Nutritionist and the formulation of feed plans and diets;
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills;
  • Be IT literate;
  • Have the ability to work on their own initiative and within a busy team;
  • Show attention to detail and be able to prioritise a busy workload;
  • Have a full current driving licence.
